The American company Silk EV and the Chinese FAW Group have decided to invest 1 billion euros to build a car production center in the Italian automotive valley, that is the Emilia Romagna Region, where they plan to develop electric and plug-in vehicles.
In February, the two companies have launched a joint venture to design and produce the new electric cars at the center of the valley.

These cars will be designed and developed in Emilia Romagna, where the company Silk EV has its headquarters, and the large-scale production will take place in the Italian region and in the Chinese city of Changchun, where FAW Group has its headquarters.
On May 13th, the Chinese ambassador in Italy, Li Junhua, attended a video conference on automobile industry cooperation between Jilin province and Emilia Romagna region, which was chaired by Cai Dong (Vice Governor of Jilin province), Jing Junhai (the Governor of Jilin province), Zhang Zhijun (acting mayor of Changchun), Di Stefano (the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation), Colla (Vice-president of the region of Emilia Romagna) and Fang Lanyi (the Italian ambassador in China). Even The Minister of Commerce of the embassy, Li Bin, attended and gave a speech.

After the pandemic situation ends, Silk EV and the FAW Group will work with President of Emilia Romagna, Stefano Bonacini, to choose the best location for a new car center in the Motor Valley region. It will be a world-class innovation factory hub, fully interconnected and equipped with advanced automated production facilities: a true experience hub in the automotive valley. In addition, a second innovation center will be built in Changchun to focus on S3 and S5 models.
The Emilia Romagna region’s Automotive Valley is the world’s only industrial park with 16,500 companies and 90000 employees, $16 billion in annual turnover and $7 billion in exports.

At the meeting of March, the world- renowned Italian car designer Walter De Silva, has been appointed as Vice President of Styling and Design of the new line of cars. In China, the new series of cars will be led in deep cooperation with the red flag brand, while in Italy and other parts of the world, the new series of cars and the name of the Red Flag brand have not been decided yet.

Who are FAW Group and Silk EV?
The FAW Group, or “First automobile Group” broke ground on July 15th 1953, from which the Chinese automobile industry began. Over the past 55 years, FAW had the important responsibility for the development of China’s automotive industry. It has gone through three stages of large-scale development, namely, the establishment of a factory, the start-up of an enterprise, product design and factory transformation, and the development of light vehicles and passenger cars. In 1991, a joint venture was established with Volkswagen to build a base for 150,000 cars; in 2002, a joint restructuring was carried out with Tianjin automotive industry (Group) and a partnership was established with the Toyota. At present, the product structure has formed a new pattern with cars as the main part.

Silk EV was founded in 2019 with its headquarters at 1270 Americas Avenue, New York, USA. The name of the Chinese branch is “Silk Technology (Shanghai) Co. , Ltd.”. It was established on April 29th, 2019 with registered capital of 1 million yuan, the legal representative is Li Nan, who holds 100% of the company's shares.
After verification, Silk EV (Shanghai) Co. , Ltd. became a wholly foreign-owned enterprise, 100% controlled by Silk Ev.
